MISSION

There's a destiny which guides us. No one lives life alone. As John Donne (1572-1631) said, "No man is an island."

The Give Life Foundation seeks to raise awareness of blood and organ donation, create a culture and spirit of volunteerism that is conducive to the donation of blood, blood products, solid organs, and marrow and raise funds to support these initiatives.

The gift of life can come in various forms-blood, blood products such as platelets, solid organs such as the heart, lung, kidney, liver, and pancreas, and marrow, which is a fluid organ that can also be transplanted.

Fact: The current U.S. blood supply contains less than a two-day reserve
Fact: The average-aged blood donor is in their late fifties
Fact: A person requires a pint of blood every two seconds in the US
Fact: There are currently more than 89,00 candidates waiting for a solid organ donation in the US , yet there were less than 10,000 donors in the first seven months of 2005.

The above statistics clearly support the need for organizations such as the Give Life Foundation to help promote the donation of the living gift of life from one person to another. It is the Give Life Foundation's mission to correct the statistical imbalances and have every American who can make a useful donation of blood or organs to do so.

Give Life Foundation will support the work of other not-for-profit organizations in the field of blood and organ donation America 's Blood Centers, The United Network for Organ Sharing, the National Marrow Donor Program, and The Marrow Foundation.

The beginning of each new year is full of promise, hope, and resolutions about how we will improve our lives and those around us. Give Life Foundation asks all Americans to devote a portion of their New Year's resolutions to giving the Gift of Life, year after year.
