Olympic Snowboard Bronze Medallist
Chris Klug is 2002 U.S. Olympic Snowboard Bronze Medallist; 2003 King of the Mountain, Aspen, CO Winner; 2002 U.S. Nationals Champion; 2001 U.S. National PGS Champion; 1998 North American GS Champion.
In 1993, Klug was diagnosed with Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC), a rare liver disease affecting one in 10,000. After waiting seven years, Chris received a life-saving liver transplant in July, 2000. Incredibly, he was back racing five months later. He is the first ever American to compete in the Olympics with an organ transplant.
Klug is the spokesperson for National Donor Day run by HHS Secretary Tommy Thompson and was honored to light the torch and keynote the 2002 Transplant Games Opening Ceremonies.
"I'm lucky to be alive today. It was truly an amazing experience for me and my family. To receive the Gift of Life is a humbling experience. I will be forever be grateful for my second chance. Everyday I thank God and I thank the individual's family for the decision to donate."
