What we do
The Give Life Foundation has been established to increase the awareness of the chronic shortage of the U.S. blood supply and encourage the donation of blood, blood products, organs and tissues.

Today, those in need of the gift of life far out number the current donations available to help them. The mission of the Give Life Foundation is to correct this imbalance and have every American who can make a useful donation of blood or organs to do so, to save the life of another.

Current Initiatives
In addition to the activities that relate to the Give Life Foundation's core mission in promoting Blood, Organ and Tissue donation the Foundation also presently engaged in several other very important projects. These efforts include:

  • Establishment of a National Blood Reserve - Following the tragic events of September 11, 2001, reports presented by both governmental and non-governmental agencies identified the chronic under supply of blood to be of grave importance to the National Security of the United States of America. The various commissions all found that presently, there is only a one day National Supply of Blood. The Give Life Foundation, along with several other non-profit organizations, private individuals, businesses and federal agencies, is committed to correcting this deficiency through the establishment of a National Blood Reserve, which will sustain a seven day national supply of blood in the event of nature disasters (such as Hurricane Katrina, earthquakes, or tsunamis), mass casualty attacks (such as the terror attacks of 9/11 and the bombings in London and Madrid) and health pandemics (such as Avian Bird Flu, etc.). Click Here to read the Congressional Resolution honoring the Give Life Foundation for its work for helping establish the National Blood Reserve.

  • Partnership with the World Health Organization - This project is designed to contribute to a reduction in maternal and perinatal deaths and disability in 12 priority countries in the Developing World through improved access to safe blood and blood products in facilities providing comprehensive emergency obstetric care (EmOC). WHO and the Give Life Foundation (along with other partner organizations) will support countries with high rates of maternal morbidity and mortality in the strengthening of national blood transfusion services in order to improve the safety and accessibility of national blood supplies and promote their rational and safe use.  Specifically, Give Life and the WHO are conservatively estimating that, once fully-funded, these efforts will result in an almost immediate 50% reduction in the infection rates of HIV/AIDS, malaria, hepatitis, and tuberculosis among pre- and post-natal mothers in the Developing World.
